ODM Youth Leader Makes Bold Prediction
Kasmuel McOure, a youthful figure within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has stirred political conversation after openly backing President William Ruto’s chances of clinching a second term. Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Friday, December 19, 2025, McOure said the president’s growing ease with public engagements reflects a return of trust among Kenyans.
Public Appearances as a Measure of Popularity
According to McOure, the president’s recent rallies mark a major turnaround from a period when public appearances were reportedly difficult in some regions. He highlighted a night rally in Nairobi as a strong signal of renewed confidence, noting that such mobilisations were previously unthinkable.
He further pointed to Central Kenya a region often viewed as politically sensitive where crowds have recently been heard chanting “two terms,” a slogan associated with support for Ruto’s re-election bid.
Dismissing Claims of Rigging
McOure was keen to address claims often raised by critics regarding future elections. He argued that Ruto’s path to a second term would be based on voter confidence rather than manipulation.
He emphasised that Kenya’s electoral process only requires a simple majority of voters who believe in a president’s governance record. In his view, improved public perception and acceptance could be enough to deliver victory at the ballot.
A Sign of Shifting Political Winds
While ODM remains in opposition, McOure’s remarks suggest changing political dynamics on the ground. His comments reflect a growing narrative that President Ruto’s administration may be regaining footing with sections of the electorate ahead of the next general election.
