Governor George Natembeya has vowed to bring the decades-old Nyakinywa land dispute to a fair and conclusive end. Speaking to residents, the governor said the time had come to close a chapter that has long affected stability and progress within the community.
He reaffirmed his personal commitment to ensuring the matter is handled transparently and within the shortest time possible, stressing that prolonged land conflicts only serve to divide communities and slow development.
KSh10 Million Set Aside
Natembeya revealed that KSh10 million has already been earmarked from the KSh18 million needed to fully resolve the dispute. He appealed to residents and local stakeholders to come together and raise the remaining KSh8 million, describing the effort as a shared responsibility for the greater good of the community.
According to the governor, collective action will make it possible to achieve a sustainable solution that benefits all affected families.
January Deadline and Title Deeds Assurance
The governor set the end of January as the target for completing the entire process. Once the dispute is settled, he assured residents that all pending title deeds would be processed efficiently and without unnecessary delays, as has been the case in previous interventions.
A Message of Unity
In an emotional appeal, Natembeya said it deeply troubled him to see his people held back by unresolved land issues. He urged unity, emphasizing that peace, security, and economic growth depend on resolving such conflicts once and for all.
