The United Democratic Alliance has ramped up its grassroots engagement in Laikipia County as part of preparations for its internal party elections slated for January 10, 2026.
In a statement shared on X on Thursday, December 18, 2025, the ruling party said the sensitisation sessions brought together supporters from different parts of the county, offering a platform to explain how the upcoming elections will be conducted.
Demystifying the Voting Process
According to UDA, the forums focused on educating members about the election framework, including voting procedures, eligibility requirements, and the roles of participants at various levels. Party officials emphasised the importance of adhering to guidelines to ensure a credible and orderly process.
The sessions also allowed supporters to ask questions and seek clarity on issues surrounding nominations, voting timelines, and leadership structures within the party.
Strengthening Internal Democracy
UDA noted that grassroots sensitisation is a key pillar in strengthening internal democracy and promoting ownership of the electoral process among party members. By engaging supporters early, the party aims to minimise disputes and enhance transparency during the polls.
Eyes on January 2026
With just weeks to go before the internal elections, UDA says similar sensitisation activities will continue in other regions as part of a nationwide preparation strategy. The party maintains that informed participation is essential for building strong and accountable party leadership.
