Rongai Member of Parliament Paul Chebor Mamba has issued a strong warning of looming political fallout, saying his truce with Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika is at risk of collapse due to persistent interference by powerful individuals around the governor.
Speaking at Mercy Njeri in Rongai sub-county, Chebor accused figures within Governor Kihika’s inner circle of orchestrating political attacks against him in the constituency, despite an earlier agreement aimed at maintaining unity for the sake of their party.
According to the MP, the truce was entered into in good faith and in the broader interest of party cohesion, but ongoing actions meant to undermine his leadership have made the arrangement untenable.
“You know we had chosen to stick together because of the party, but if it’s not working, we have to abandon. You can’t be abusing me in the night and expect me to sing two-term to Governor Kihika. We are now going to factory settings,” Chebor said, signaling a return to political independence.
Chebor further accused the county’s first gentleman of attempting to influence local politics by positioning another candidate for the Rongai parliamentary seat. He argued that such moves erode trust and contradict the spirit of teamwork that leaders are expected to uphold.
The MP warned that continued interference could destabilize political cooperation in the constituency and beyond, adding that respect and mutual understanding are essential for any alliance to hold.
Chebor’s remarks highlight growing tensions within Nakuru County’s political leadership, as internal rivalries threaten previously established truces. His statement suggests that unless the alleged actions stop, Rongai could soon witness intensified political realignments with far-reaching implications ahead of future elections.
