Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) member Kasmuel McOure has come out strongly in defence of Oketch Salah, urging party members to prioritise unity and rally behind party leader Oburu Oginga amid rising internal tensions.
In a statement shared on his X account on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, McOure criticised what he described as unwarranted online attacks and internal disputes that risk weakening the party’s cohesion. He warned that public infighting among ODM members only serves to undermine the party’s strength and credibility.
McOure praised Oketch Salah’s character, describing him as a leader who demonstrates exceptional humility, generosity, and restraint, even in the face of hostility. He condemned individuals, including some leaders, who have taken to social media to attack Salah, noting that such critics would not express the same sentiments in person.
“My elder brother, Oketch Salah embodies a rare generosity of spirit. He is kind to a fault and civil beyond measure, even in the face of conflict. I have watched people attack his person online, leaders who know better and would never dare utter these words to his face,” McOure stated.
He further accused some individuals within ODM of attempting to exploit Salah’s position for personal or political gain while simultaneously working to undermine him. According to McOure, such conduct reflects bad faith and poses a serious threat to party unity and discipline.
McOure used the opportunity to call on ODM members to refocus their energies on strengthening the party rather than engaging in divisive power struggles. He emphasized the need for collective support for Oburu Oginga’s leadership, arguing that unity at the top is critical for the party’s stability and future success.
His remarks come at a time when ODM is facing increased scrutiny over internal disagreements, with party insiders urging calm and cohesion as the movement navigates a changing political environment. The statement underscores growing concern among loyalists that unresolved internal conflicts could erode public confidence and weaken ODM’s position nationally.
As the party looks ahead, McOure’s message adds to calls for restraint, mutual respect, and solidarity, reinforcing the view that ODM’s strength lies in unity rather than internal confrontation.
