Senator Edwin Sifuna has once again hit back at Senator Eddy Okech, dismissing a new complaint lodged against him as legally hollow and politically motivated.
In a hard-hitting statement, Sifuna described Okech as a “repeat complainant” advancing allegations that have previously failed to withstand legal scrutiny. He recalled an earlier case in which, according to him, Okech acted as a “hired political assassin” but ultimately lost, with the court ordering both him and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to pay costs.
“He will most certainly lose again should he continue with this misadventure,” Sifuna said, adding that he had personally reached out to Okech and advised him to withdraw the letter in order to salvage his reputation.
Sifuna further invoked a famous warning attributed to Winston Churchill to a young and overzealous legislator: “You will go far, very far indeed, but in the wrong direction,” suggesting that Okech’s current path is misguided and self-destructive.
Turning to the broader state of ODM, Sifuna maintained that there is nothing being discussed today about the party that he has not raised before. He noted that individuals who once condemned him for speaking out are now echoing the same concerns.
“The only difference is that those who condemned me for saying them in the past are now speaking about them,” he stated.
He argued that ODM supporters deserve honesty about what has gone wrong within the party, alleging that certain individuals treated ODM, its leadership, and members as “ATM machines” for personal gain. According to Sifuna, those implicated in questionable practices — including receiving weekly payments and billing multiple sources for the same goods and services — are now being exposed.
“ODM faithfuls deserve to know the truth,” Sifuna said, insisting that accountability and transparency are unavoidable as internal scrutiny intensifies.
The remarks signal deepening tensions within ODM, as internal disagreements increasingly spill into the public domain, raising questions about unity, integrity, and the party’s future direction.
