Dr. Fred Matiang’i has strongly dismissed claims suggesting that the Jubilee Party is involved in efforts to divide the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), terming the allegations unfounded and misleading.
In an official statement released on behalf of the Jubilee Party, Matiang’i reaffirmed the party’s commitment to peace, unity, and the strengthening of Kenya’s democratic space. He noted that Jubilee remains focused on fostering a stable political environment and wishes all political actors well as the country works toward a stronger and more inclusive Kenya.
“As the Jubilee Party, we stand committed to peace and unity in our nation’s political landscape,” the statement read, underscoring the party’s belief in multiparty democracy and healthy political competition.
Matiang’i made it clear that Jubilee neither participates in nor condones political conflict, stressing that the growth and success of all political parties are essential to the realization of a vibrant democracy. He added that any discussions within other political parties, whether internal or external, are entirely their own responsibility.
“Any discussions within other parties remain solely their prerogative. We respect their autonomy and wish them success in their endeavours,” he stated.
Addressing speculation around Jubilee’s leadership, Matiang’i clarified that neither the party nor its leaders play any role in the internal affairs of ODM. He further defended the role of Jubilee’s party leader, noting that as a retired Head of State, he retains the constitutional right to participate in national discourse and offer guidance on matters of public interest for the benefit of all Kenyans.
Matiang’i also urged leaders across the political divide to focus on their national responsibilities, warning against distractions driven by unsubstantiated controversies or personal rivalries.
“With much to accomplish in service to our country, let us channel our energies into constructive governance rather than unfounded controversies or personal animosities,” he said.
Concluding his statement, Matiang’i emphasized that genuine leadership should inspire unity rather than fear or division. He called on political leaders to rise above partisan conflicts and work collectively toward building a prosperous, democratic Kenya for present and future generations.
