Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has asserted that Raila Odinga’s political legacy will continue to dominate Kenya’s national discourse for generations, describing him as an unavoidable reference point for any future presidential ambition.
In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Amisi portrayed Raila as a towering figure whose influence transcends electoral cycles and political alignments. According to the MP, Raila’s ideas, sacrifices, and long-standing struggle for democracy have irreversibly shaped Kenya’s political landscape.
“Raila Odinga’s name will remain central to Kenya’s politics for generations to come,” Amisi said, adding that no one seeking the presidency in the next century will do so without invoking Raila’s legacy, either directly or indirectly.
Amisi argued that Raila’s impact goes beyond holding office, crediting him with expanding democratic space, strengthening multiparty politics, and embedding the culture of resistance and reform into Kenya’s governance history.
He noted that Raila’s political journey has influenced constitutional reform, electoral accountability, and the broader fight for civil liberties, making him a permanent fixture in the country’s democratic story.
The Saboti MP’s remarks place Raila alongside Kenya’s most consequential political figures, suggesting that future leaders will continue to draw legitimacy, contrast, or inspiration from his ideas and political battles.
Amisi concluded by stating that Raila’s legacy is not merely personal or partisan but national, arguing that Kenya’s democracy, as it exists today, cannot be understood without acknowledging his role in shaping it.
