Kacheliba Member of Parliament Titus Lotee has issued a stern warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over what he described as poor leadership and troubling developments within the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Speaking during an interview on a local television station on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Lotee expressed concern over the wave of defections and internal instability rocking the party. He argued that the unfolding events point to deeper structural and leadership problems that, if left unaddressed, could spell political disaster.
According to the MP, the exit of strong and influential supporters from DCP to rival political formations is a serious red flag. He noted that such movements often signal a loss of confidence in leadership and direction, warning that history has shown parties in similar situations rarely survive intact.
“The direction the DCP party is taking is wrong,” Lotee stated, adding that the continued loss of loyal members undermines the party’s credibility and bargaining power within the opposition landscape.
Lotee went further to caution that Gachagua’s current approach poses a direct threat to his own political future. He argued that leadership requires cohesion, consultation, and strategic restraint, warning that internal chaos often turns public sympathy into political isolation.
The remarks add to growing debate about the stability of DCP and Gachagua’s capacity to consolidate support amid mounting pressure from both within and outside the party. As opposition politics continue to realign ahead of the 2027 elections, analysts say how Gachagua handles dissent and defections may determine whether DCP emerges as a serious force or fades into irrelevance.
