Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has met with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader Geoffrey Osotsi, just days after he failed to attend the party’s Central Management Committee (CMC) meeting held in Vipingo, Kilifi County.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Osotsi revealed that Natembeya paid him a courtesy call at his Senate office. The meeting comes amid growing political tension between Natembeya and the ODM leadership over the party’s direction as the 2027 general election approaches.
Osotsi noted that the two leaders held discussions on emerging political and socio-economic issues affecting the Western Kenya region. He said their engagement was guided by a shared commitment to safeguarding the interests of their communities and shaping the region’s political future.
Governor Natembeya, who has increasingly positioned himself as a vocal critic of the government through his “Tawe Movement,” has in recent months appeared to chart an independent political path, raising questions about his long-term alignment within the opposition coalition.
Although neither leader disclosed detailed outcomes of the talks, the meeting is likely to intensify debate about opposition unity and the evolving dynamics within ODM and the broader United Opposition framework.
The Natembeya–Osotsi engagement underscores ongoing consultations among Western Kenya leaders as they reassess strategy, influence, and regional bargaining power ahead of the next electoral cycle.
