Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) spokesperson Philip Etale has downplayed claims of a fallout within the party, maintaining that ODM remains intact despite public perceptions of internal discord.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Tuesday, January 20, 2025, Etale urged members of the public to ignore what he described as unnecessary drama surrounding the party’s internal discussions.
He clarified that the differing views being expressed by ODM leaders regarding the party’s direction ahead of the 2027 general elections should not be misconstrued as division or a split within the party.
According to Etale, the apparent disagreements, with leaders seemingly speaking in different tones and positions, are a natural expression of democratic engagement within the party rather than signs of conflict.
He explained that what some observers perceive as a rift is simply the “D” in ODM democracy at work, emphasizing that open debate and divergent opinions are core principles of the party’s identity.
Etale reaffirmed that ODM remains cohesive and focused on its broader political objectives, noting that internal dialogue is healthy and essential as the party charts its future political strategy.
His remarks come amid heightened political activity as parties begin early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections, a period often marked by robust internal debate and strategic realignments.
