resident William Ruto has declared that he is targeting a landslide victory in the 2027 General Election, saying he intends to win by a margin of between two and three million votes.
Speaking at State House during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Governing Council (NGC) meeting on Monday, January 26, 2026, the President said the formation of the current broad-based government was informed by lessons learned from past political turbulence.
Ruto noted that the country had gone through a difficult period marked by political tension, protests, and instability, but said those challenges presented an opportunity to reset governance through inclusivity.
“As we talk today, we have a broad-based government arrangement. Tulikuwa na matatizo, makelele, fujo, na maandamano, na tukasema in every challenge, there is a silver lining, and there is opportunity if you look carefully. In that challenge, we decided to create an opportunity out of it,” Ruto said.
He described the broad-based government as a success, arguing that it has helped stabilise the country politically while creating room for cooperation across political divides.
The remarks were made as President Ruto, accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, arrived at the UDA NGC meeting at State House, where party strategy and preparations ahead of the 2027 elections were key agenda items.
