Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has held a sit-down meeting with Cooperatives and SMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, days after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula urged him to join a proposed political alliance.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Wednesday, January 28, 2025, Wamalwa briefed the public on his engagement with the Cooperatives CS, describing the meeting as cordial and forward-looking.
Wamalwa noted that he has previously worked closely with Oparanya and expressed optimism about continued collaboration in the future. He indicated that their discussions were centered on fostering unity and shared prosperity in Western Kenya.
“Delighted to catch up with my brother CS Dr Oparanya, with whom I have worked closely in the past and intend to continue working with in the future, in our quest for the unity and prosperity of the Mulembe Nation and the greater Kenyan Nation. Watch this space!” Wamalwa stated.
The meeting has fueled speculation about emerging political realignments in the Western region, especially as leaders intensify consultations ahead of future political contests.
Wamalwa’s remarks suggest ongoing behind-the-scenes engagements aimed at consolidating regional unity, with observers keenly watching how these talks may shape broader national political dynamics.
