South Mugirango Member of Parliament Silvanus Osoro has taken a swipe at the united opposition leaders, accusing them of spending too much time in closed-door meetings rather than engaging directly with Kenyans at the grassroots level.
In a statement shared on his social media channels on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Osoro contrasted the opposition’s approach with that of President William Ruto, who, according to him, is actively engaging Kenyans from diverse backgrounds across the country. Osoro pointed out that while Ruto is on the ground connecting with the people, opposition leaders are confined to boardrooms planning their next moves.
He mocked the opposition for their continuous meetings, suggesting that if they are not in one, they are strategizing for the next. Specifically, Osoro highlighted a recent meeting involving former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party leader Rigathi Gachagua, which took place a day after the opposition held a closed-door session. The opposition leaders then attended the National Delegates Conference (NDC) of the Democratic Party (DP) at Mfangamano House.
Osoro’s remarks underscore growing frustrations with the opposition’s strategy, emphasizing the need for more grassroots engagement to connect with ordinary Kenyans and sway public support ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
