Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has announced that she will be on the ballot in the 2027 General Election, seeking to become the next Nairobi Woman Representative.
Omanga made the declaration through a public statement in which she responded to growing calls from her supporters urging her to vie for the seat. Using a mix of English and Kiswahili, she confirmed that she has listened to the people and is ready to represent them.
“Wengi wananiuliza rada… 2027, nitakuwepo Nairobi Women Rep. Na nitakuwa sana – with my people. Nimewaskia, tuko pamoja,” Omanga stated.
Her announcement signals an early entry into what is expected to be a highly competitive race for the Nairobi Woman Representative position, a seat that has historically attracted strong political figures due to the capital city’s influence and diversity.
Omanga, a vocal and influential political mobiliser, previously served as a nominated senator under the UDA party and has remained active in grassroots politics, particularly among women and youth in Nairobi. She is known for her strong political messaging, visibility on social platforms, and close ties to the ruling party.
Political observers note that her declaration reflects the growing momentum within UDA as several leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls. Her emphasis on being “with the people” suggests a grassroots-focused campaign anchored on direct engagement with Nairobi residents.
As the election season gradually takes shape, Omanga’s entry into the race adds a new dynamic to Nairobi politics and sets the stage for intense competition in the women representative contest.
More aspirants are expected to declare their bids in the coming months as parties and individuals begin early mobilization ahead of the next general election.
