Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has claimed that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) removed him from its National Executive Committee (NEC) without following due process, intensifying internal party tensions as the country inches closer to the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a radio interview on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Amisi revealed that he received a letter informing him of his removal from the powerful decision-making organ of the party before any official NEC meeting had taken place.
“They are testing the ground to remove everyone not supporting Ruto. You know who is next! I gladly become the first casualty! We shall not relent. History will judge us fairly! Kenya needs a renaissance!” Amisi declared.
The outspoken legislator suggested that his removal was politically motivated, claiming it is part of a wider plan to purge members perceived as not aligned with President William Ruto’s political direction.
Amisi, who has been vocal in his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration, indicated that the move signals growing intolerance within party structures for leaders holding independent or dissenting views.
His remarks come amid heightened political realignments within ODM, with internal divisions emerging over strategy and positioning ahead of the 2027 elections. The developments follow recent public disagreements within the party, including calls by senior leaders for disciplinary action against members seen as defying party leadership.
Political analysts say the situation reflects broader tensions within opposition ranks, as parties struggle to maintain unity while navigating shifting alliances and national political dynamics.
As the debate unfolds, questions remain over whether ODM will formally address Amisi’s claims and clarify the circumstances surrounding his removal from the NEC.
With political temperatures steadily rising, the unfolding events could significantly shape internal party cohesion and opposition politics in the lead-up to 2027.
