With two years to the next general elections, President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that the country is on course to becoming a first-world nation. He said this will be achieved through a bold plan to expand manufacturing, boost industrialisation, increase exports of finished products, and create jobs through strategic investments.
Speaking at State House Nairobi during a meeting with Masumi Kakinoki, Chairman of Japan’s Marubeni Corporation, Ruto highlighted the government’s commitment to attracting investors in high-growth sectors such as e-mobility, pharmaceuticals, cybersecurity, and e-commerce. Marubeni, which has operated in Kenya since 1961, announced plans to expand operations, citing the country’s stable and diverse economy.
“Our vision is to transform Kenya into a first-country economy that provides opportunities for every Kenyan,” Ruto said. “Through industrialisation and strategic investment, we aim to generate jobs, increase exports, and strengthen our economic foundations for future generations.”
