Ruth Odinga has declared that it is too early for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to enter into a pre-election agreement with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking on the night of Wednesday, February 18, 2026, during an interview with a local TV station, the Kisumu Woman Representative urged her party to prioritise internal cohesion before pursuing new political coalitions.
“It is very premature for ODM to have that pact. We really need to first get our house in order,” she said.
Focus on Internal Unity
Ruth emphasised that ODM must address internal organisational and policy commitments before considering any formal arrangement with UDA.
Her remarks come at a time when discussions about possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election have intensified, with speculation over whether ODM could collaborate with President William Ruto’s political outfit.
The legislator cautioned against rushing into alliances without a clear internal consensus, noting that party stability and clarity of direction should take precedence.
Her position reflects growing debate within ODM over its future political strategy and the path it should take following recent leadership transitions.
As the 2027 elections approach, calls for unity and structured internal dialogue continue to shape discussions within the party.
