Godfrey Osotsi has stated that a political meeting in Kakamega continued despite disruption by teargas, describing the crowd as “unmoved and unshaken.”
According to the senator, the gathering pressed on even after security officers lobbed teargas at attendees.
“Even after teargas was lobbed at the crowd in Kakamega, they remained unmoved and unshaken, and the meeting continued unbowed. The Luhya nation has decided. Ruto ni wantam,” Osotsi declared.
Osotsi’s remarks signal growing political mobilisation in the Western region as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The phrase “Ruto ni wantam” suggests a strong political message directed at President William Ruto, indicating opposition within sections of the region.
Rising Political Tensions
Incidents involving teargas at political gatherings have increasingly drawn public attention, with leaders accusing security agencies of interfering with political activities.
Osotsi’s statement frames the Kakamega incident as a show of resilience by supporters, portraying the crowd’s persistence as a sign of political determination.
As campaigns and political rallies intensify across the country, Western Kenya is emerging as a key battleground region in the evolving 2027 political landscape.
