Edwin Sifuna has stated that no one within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has formally explained to him any wrongdoing, even as the party faces one of its most intense internal power struggles in recent years.
Speaking during a morning interview on a local TV station on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the Nairobi Senator addressed the deepening divisions between the party’s Linda Mwananchi wing and the rival Linda Ground faction led by Oburu Odinga.
Sifuna dismissed assertions by the Linda Ground faction that it commands the majority of ODM leaders, arguing that political legitimacy is not determined solely by the number of leaders aligned to a particular side.
According to him, the Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi camp is focused on winning the support of ordinary Kenyans rather than engaging in internal supremacy battles.
“We have a responsibility to fight for the ODM Party, and I will not evade responsibility, since the party is a part of the people, and it is our responsibility to safeguard it,” Sifuna said.
His remarks underscore the widening rift within ODM, as competing factions seek to define the party’s direction ahead of the 2027 General Election. The unfolding standoff has raised questions about unity, leadership authority, and the future cohesion of one of Kenya’s most influential political parties.
