The Kenya government has issued a strong travel and safety warning to its citizens residing in or travelling across the Middle East as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to escalate.
Speaking during a morning interview on Monday, March 2, 2026, Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu advised Kenyans in affected regions to remain indoors as much as possible and maintain close communication with Kenyan embassies and official government channels for real-time updates.
“For now, as we monitor, it is important to reiterate to Kenyans to shelter in place and listen to what your host country is advising… We are far from an evacuation scenario, but we have a plan in place if it comes to that,” Njogu assured.
She emphasised that the government is actively monitoring the evolving situation and has contingency plans ready should the security environment deteriorate further.
The advisory follows reported military strikes by the United States and Israeli forces on strategic positions in Tehran, which have reportedly triggered retaliatory measures in the Gulf region and heightened fears of a broader regional conflict.
Kenyan authorities have urged citizens abroad to prioritise their safety, adhere strictly to local government directives, and avoid unnecessary travel as diplomatic efforts continue to address the growing crisis.
