Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has taken a strong swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of spreading lies during the heated Mbeere North by-election campaigns.
Speaking on November 18 during a rally at Muminji, Ruku dismissed Gachagua’s claims that he had visited the CS’s grandmother’s home while conducting a door-to-door campaign in the area.
“Stupid Talks,” Says CS Ruku
Ruku did not mince his words as he called out the former DP for pushing what he described as blatant falsehoods.
“Riggy G, you are spreading lies to Kenyans that you've gone to my grandmother's house to take a cup of tea,” Ruku declared.
“My parents are deceased, and I have never seen my grandmother.”
His remarks drew strong reactions from the crowd, signaling rising political temperatures ahead of the November 27 by-election.
Ruku Campaigns for UDA Candidate Wamuthende
The CS was on the ground drumming up support for Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate. The Mbeere North parliamentary seat fell vacant after Ruku’s own appointment as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development.
The by-election has attracted two key contenders:
-
Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende – UDA
-
Newton Karish – Democratic Party (DP)
With the stakes rising, political heavyweights have intensified their campaigns in the region.
Mbeere North Wants Respect and Development, Says Ruku
Ruku emphasized that voters in Mbeere North are more interested in leadership that delivers rather than political theatrics.
“Mbeere North citizens want respect, development, and employment,” he said.
He urged residents to support leaders focused on tangible progress, not divisive rhetoric.
Rising Heat Ahead of the November 27 By-Election
The war of words between senior political figures signals a tense final stretch before voters head to the polls. As campaigns intensify, all eyes will be on how candidates navigate the remaining days and whether peace will prevail in the hotly contested constituency.
