Two newly elected Members of the County Assembly in Embu County were officially sworn into office on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, following their victory in the recent by-elections. The ceremony marked the formal entry of Duncan Muratia Nyaga and Peterson Njiru Njeru into the Embu County Assembly.
Duncan Muratia Nyaga and Peterson Njiru Njeru, popularly known as Weche, assumed their roles after winning the February 26, 2026 by-elections held in Evurore and Muminji wards within Mbeere North Constituency.
The by-elections saw strong victories for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), which secured both seats.
In Evurore Ward, Nyaga emerged victorious with an impressive 7,853 votes, defeating Albert Muchira of the Democratic Party, who garnered 1,940 votes in the contest.
Meanwhile, in Muminji Ward, Njeru secured 3,207 votes to clinch the seat. He was followed by Boniface Ngari of the DEB Party, who finished second with 2,232 votes.
The by-elections were conducted on February 26, 2026, after the previous MCAs from the two wards resigned from their positions to pursue other political opportunities.
The swearing-in ceremony now allows the two leaders to officially begin representing residents of Evurore and Muminji wards, as they join other MCAs in deliberating on legislative matters and development priorities within Embu County.
