Dan Maanzo has asserted that the Orange Democratic Movement has sufficient political strength across the country to form the next government on its own in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station on Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Makueni senator argued that ODM enjoys a broad national following that can sustain an independent presidential campaign without necessarily entering into alliances with other political parties.
ODM’s Nationwide Support
Maanzo made the remarks while responding to ongoing discussions about possible political cooperation between ODM and the ruling United Democratic Alliance.
According to the senator, ODM’s political influence extends far beyond its traditional strongholds, giving the party the numerical strength required to compete effectively for the presidency.
He maintained that the party’s structures, grassroots mobilisation and established support base across several regions place it in a strong position ahead of the 2027 contest.
The senator’s comments come at a time when speculation has been growing about potential alliances between opposition parties and the ruling coalition as the country gradually shifts focus toward the 2027 elections.
While some leaders have suggested that cooperation with the ruling party could be beneficial, Maanzo insisted that ODM is capable of charting its own political path.
His remarks reflect the ongoing debate within the opposition about whether parties should form alliances or rely on their individual strength as they prepare for the next general election.
