Rigathi Gachagua has launched a sharp political attack on William Ruto, accusing him of attempting to divide the Mt Kenya region for political gain.

In a strongly worded statement, Gachagua claimed that efforts to split the region into eastern and western factions are futile and will ultimately fail.

“Mr. William Ruto, your schemes to divide the mountain into West and East is an exercise in futility,” Gachagua said.

“Futile Efforts to Divide the Mountain”

The former deputy president further criticised what he described as political manoeuvres aimed at weakening unity within the Mt Kenya bloc. According to him, such attempts are unlikely to succeed given the region’s strong social and political ties.

He likened the alleged strategy to an impossible task, saying it would be like trying to cut down a massive sacred tree using a razor blade.

“Using Soprano to divide the mountain is like using a razor blade to cut down a Mugumo tree,” Gachagua remarked.

Rising Political Tensions

The remarks reflect the escalating political tensions between Gachagua and President Ruto as leaders from the Mt Kenya region increasingly debate issues of regional unity and political influence.

Political analysts say the Mt Kenya region remains a critical voting bloc in national elections, making it a key battleground as leaders position themselves ahead of future political contests.

Gachagua’s comments signal growing friction within Kenya’s political landscape, particularly over leadership and influence within the influential Mt Kenya region.
