President William Ruto and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga will jointly chair a Parliamentary Group meeting involving legislators from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday morning at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi starting at 10am.

According to invitations sent to Members of Parliament, the forum will review the 10-Point Agenda Report and deliberate on policy issues arising from the proposals contained in the document.

Lawmakers will also discuss emerging national matters and outline parliamentary priorities under the framework of the Broad-Based Government arrangement.

An invitation to ODM legislators signed by the party’s Minority Leader Junet Mohamed urged members to attend the meeting and take part in discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration in Parliament.

The session follows an earlier joint meeting held on August 18, 2025, which brought together leaders from both political sides, including President Ruto and the late ODM founder Raila Odinga.

The latest gathering was initially planned to take place before March 7 but was postponed following the death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng'eno.

The meeting is being held amid internal disagreements within ODM over the party’s political direction.

One faction aligned with Oburu Oginga, known as the Linda Ground group, includes leaders such as party chairperson Gladys Wanga and deputy party leaders Simba Arati and Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir.

Another faction led by party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and deputy party leader Godfrey Osotsi,  often referred to as the Linda Wananchi group, has opposed closer political cooperation with President Ruto’s administration.

Members aligned with the Sifuna faction have indicated they may skip the meeting, which is expected to discuss plans for a possible coalition arrangement between UDA and ODM.

ODM has already issued a 90-day notice signalling its intention to withdraw from the Azimio La Umoja–One Kenya Coalition, a move that could pave the way for a new political pact with UDA and other allied parties.

Oburu has meanwhile urged party members to remain calm as discussions continue, cautioning leaders against making premature statements in public while negotiations are ongoing.
