The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has swiftly debunked a fraudulent notice circulating online and in print, which falsely claimed that a National Delegates Conference (NDC) would be held on March 27, 2026, to endorse Hon. Babu Owino as Secretary General and create a Deputy Party Leader position for Hon. Winnie Odinga.
ODM clarified that the notice, dated March 18, 2026, contains multiple constitutional flaws. Among them, the Party Leader does not sign notices for NDC or SDC meetings, such a meeting cannot be announced in fewer than 21 days, and the Daily Nation newspaper has no record of publishing the alleged notice. The party confirmed that this document is entirely fake.
Amid internal party rifts, Babu Owino distanced himself from the fabricated notice, stating that his ambition is to pursue the position of Party Leader. Meanwhile, the official NDC conference proceeds as scheduled, navigating challenges from rival factions that emerged during Raila Odinga's absence.
The party urges members and the public to rely only on verified communications to avoid misinformation and maintain transparency in its ongoing political processes.
