The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has officially removed Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi from his position as Deputy Party Leader following a decisive Special Delegates Convention held at Jamhuri Grounds along Ngong Road in Nairobi County. The announcement was made on Friday, March 27, 2026, by National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed.
In a major leadership shake-up within the party, ODM delegates elected Kisii County Governor Simba Arati and Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir as the new Deputy Party Leaders. The two leaders will now jointly serve in the influential positions, signaling a strategic shift in the party’s leadership structure.
The changes come amid ongoing internal realignments within ODM, as the party seeks to strengthen its leadership and consolidate its support base across the country. The Special Delegates Convention, attended by party officials and members from various regions, underscored ODM’s commitment to restructuring and positioning itself for future political contests.
Osotsi’s removal marks a significant political development, reflecting the evolving dynamics within one of Kenya’s leading political parties. Meanwhile, the appointment of Arati and Nassir is expected to bring regional balance and reinforce ODM’s influence in both western and coastal regions.
