Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced plans to travel to the United Kingdom and the United States as part of a major fundraising drive for the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua said the international tour is aimed at mobilizing support from Kenyans living abroad and strengthening the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections. The former Deputy President noted that the diaspora community plays a crucial role in shaping the country’s political and economic future, adding that their contributions are vital in supporting democratic and people-centered leadership.
The fundraising campaign is expected to bring together supporters, business leaders, and Kenyan communities in both the UK and the US, where discussions will focus on the party’s vision, development agenda, and political strategy ahead of 2027.
Since launching the Democracy for Citizens Party, Gachagua has intensified efforts to expand the party’s influence across the country, positioning it as an alternative political movement focused on inclusivity and citizen-driven governance. The planned overseas visits are also expected to boost the party’s visibility among Kenyans abroad and attract financial backing for grassroots mobilization.
Political observers view the move as part of early preparations for the highly anticipated 2027 elections, with parties already beginning to reorganize and strengthen their support networks.
